Clearer Explore screen map controls

Following our recent updates to improve the live buses dialogue in apps, we have continued refining the Explore screen experience across our mobile apps.

From version 120, map layer controls for live vehicle tracking and micromobility options have moved into a dedicated bottom sheet. This provides passengers with a larger, clearer touch target that fits naturally into modern mobile UX patterns.

To make the map experience as clear as possible, we have introduced several visual and functional enhancements:

  • Explicit text labels: Icon controls now include descriptive text labels, making it immediately clear what each layer toggle displays.
  • Select services prompt: A clear call-to-action guides passengers on how to enable live vehicles for different services on the map, helping to prevent any confusion when viewing an empty map.
  • Tracked service summary: Any services currently selected for tracking are listed within the map layer control, allowing passengers to verify tracked services at a glance.

This update will roll out automatically to all apps from version 120, beginning Wednesday 5th August 2026.
