Improvements to in-app disruption visibility

We are making UI adjustments in the upcoming release to improve how disruption information is displayed to your customers.

From app version 105, apps will no longer display a small warning icon attached directly to the service number (roundel) wherever they are displayed, including on departure boards. Instead, we are prioritising the service update banners to reduce visual clutter and improve accuracy.

Why are we making this change?

  • Improved Accuracy: Disruptions on a service won’t necessarily apply to every individual journey. Removing the icon from individual departures prevents users from assuming a specific bus is disrupted when it may not be.
  • Reduced Friction: Tapping a service roundel does not lead the user to disruption information. By removing the icon, we encourage users to interact with the service update banner, which takes them directly to the relevant information.
  • Clarity: Disruption information remains fully visible via banners on the same screens. This change removes duplicate indicators to make the app interface cleaner and easier to read.

This change will be made available across apps from Wednesday, 3rd December. For any questions or more information about using the disruptions tool, please get in touch.
