Destination information available on individual vehicles

Our live vehicle tracking systems can now display a vehicle’s destination, making it easier for users to see where a vehicle is heading at a glance. The destination will be displayed under the route name of the vehicle.

This new destination information will be shown in addition to the operator name, if the operator name is set to display on this view in the app and website configuration.

The operator name appears in the screenshot below, beneath the vehicle destination. This setting is useful for some multi-operator and local authorities apps and websites, to help users identify which company their service is run by.

The feature is available immediately across all platforms; web, iOS and Android, but is dependent on the data we receive from your SIRI-VM supplier.

For operators with SIRI-VM feeds from Transmach and Init, this is usually enabled by default. For Ticketer customers this is not enabled by default and we are working with them directly to understand how we can enable this for you.

If your feed provider is not mentioned above and you wish to enable this feature, you should contact them and request that this be turned on in the feed.

The feed requires the following:

  • A MonitoredVehicleJourney node containing:
    • a DestinationRef
    • and a DestinationName
