Increased ticket passback security on iOS

As part of our ongoing investment in ticket fraud prevention, we are adding an additional deterrent to passback fraud for mobile tickets on iOS in our latest release.

Some ETMs are configured to allow QR codes that were generated a few seconds or even minutes ago. This is to account for ETMs or mobile devices that have clocks that are not 100% accurate. This period is configurable by operators in some cases and we recommend operators set this to just a few seconds. As this is not always possible, we are adding additional protections within the app.

Unlike on Android devices, Apple does not allow us to prevent the user from taking a screenshot on iOS. It does, however, allow us to detect when a user has taken a screenshot.

Similarly to how we deal with users that attempt to use Screen Recording and Sharing – if we detect the user has taken a screenshot of an active ticket we will now display a warning message as below:

As the message describes and as an additional deterrent, if a screenshot of an active ticket is taken, the user will be automatically logged out.
