Access to app analytics is changing

What’s changing?

The way you access mobile app usage stats is changing. Google is removing support for mobile apps in Google Analytics and is replacing it with the new Firebase analytics platform.

We updated both the iOS and Android mobile apps to support the new Firebase platform in June 2019. So, for the last few months, app usage stats have been collected in both Google Analytics and the new Firebase platform.

How do I log into Firebase?

To log into the new Firebase platform all you have to do is provide us with the email address that is associated with your existing Google Analytics account. We’ll let you know when we’ve added this email address to your Firebase project. You’ll then be able to log into Firebase using the same user name and password you had for Google Analytics.

Please send the email address you use to access Google Analytics to our Help Desk team at help@passengerteam.com.

Does this impact how I access statistics for my website?

No. Websites stats are unaffected and will continue to be available in Google Analytics.

Will I lose historic data?

Yes, unless you take action. Google has confirmed the following regarding Google Analytics for mobile apps:

  • Data collection and processing will stop on 31st October 2019. No new data after that date will be available;
  • Access to the historical data will remain available until 31st January 2020; and
  • You will receive further notification before the data is removed from Google Analytics servers but we would recommend that you download reports if there’s any historical data you’d like to keep.
  • If you’ve set up any custom reports in Google Analytics unfortunately you’ll need to set them up again in Firebase.

I’m not sure about something, who do I ask?
