Giving users additional account management options

App and website users can now update their own email address or delete their account directly. This gives customers more control over their personal account details and reduces user account management tasks in Customers Service teams.

Under a revised Account details section, the user can choose to change their email address or delete their account alongside the existing password reset options. To prevent accidental changes, the user is required to provide their password before any action is made.

When choosing to delete their account, the user is warned that if they have outstanding tickets they will be cancelled and are not recoverable. If they have a subscription, this will be cancelled also. The user is also warned that they will have to contact Customer Support if they wish to request full erasure of their personal data.

This change also brings the iOS app in line with new Apple App Review Guidelines which state that “apps that allow for account creation must also allow users to initiate deletion of their account from within the app”. This ensures future app updates will not be prevented by the App Store.
