When tracking live vehicles for a line from a departure board in apps, customers will now see all the vehicles on that line regardless of their direction. This gives more information to customers who are tracking vehicles from the beginning of a line by also showing vehicles approaching from the other direction, which may be scheduled for an upcoming outbound departure from that stop.
Previously this screen only displayed vehicles travelling in the same direction along a line, however, this meant that customers viewing stops at the beginning of a line would only be able to track vehicles that have already served their stop.
This change improves the usability of live tracking for a service from a departure board and it introduces consistency to the feature across apps and websites, where websites already show vehicles travelling along both directions of a line. While there is a possibility that the inbound bus might not always be the outbound bus in this scenario, we are confident this change is an overall improvement to the user experience and we will continue to investigate future improvements in this area.
