We are releasing an update this week to web apps that will display a banner to all Internet Explorer (all versions) and legacy versions of Microsoft Edge users.
This explains to users that they’re using an outdated browser and should consider updating. We hope this will prompt most users to try a new browser, or update to the latest Microsoft Edge.
In some cases, users may be unable to update or change to a new browser. For those users, we’ve included a link to a form that can be filled out so we can understand more about the issues they’re facing. You can see a duplicate of this form here.
If users are concerned and contact you – please encourage them to fill out the form linked from the banner. The information entered into the form is sent directly to us and is completely confidential.
This doesn’t change our browser support and we’ll be continuing to support Internet Explorer 11 and legacy versions of Microsoft Edge for the time being.
These are our next steps in evaluating our support for older browsers. You can read more about our research and our reasoning in this News post. We’ll be carefully monitoring the responses and website analytics to see how IE11 usage changes, and we’ll make an informed decision about IE11 support later this year.
If you have any questions at all, just drop us a line.
