The next update to the iOS Passenger apps will remove the password confirmation step from the checkout process.
Users regularly forget passwords, which prevents them from purchasing a ticket quickly. This represents a barrier to entry which results in a decrease in users completing the checkout process. By removing the password confirmation step we expect to mitigate some user errors and also reduce the amount of customer support required to resolve these issues.
Advances in mobile phone technology such as fingerprint and face identification make security easier to set up for non-technical people. This, paired with the increase in uptake of mobile payments mean most phone users are already using passcodes to prevent unauthorised access to all apps stored on the device.
In the app release notes we have encouraged users to make sure their mobile devices are secured with a passcode (if not already). We are releasing this as an iOS-only change at the moment and expect to release a complimentary Android version shortly after.
