Effortless fare control: Introducing scheduled ticket changes

We are excited to introduce a highly requested feature designed to address challenges that many operators face when managing changes to your tickets; the ability to schedule changes in advance.

Why this update matters

  1. Until now, handling ticket updates required someone to make those changes at the point they needed to take effect. This update eliminates that requirement by allowing you to schedule fare updates and changes to availability ahead of time.
  2. On January 1, 2025, the government-led fare cap in England will increase from £2 to £3. This change occurs on a bank holiday during the Christmas period, so it presents a unique challenge for many operators. Ensuring appropriate tickets are available at the correct price without requiring staff to work over the holiday period unnecessarily is critical.

What this feature enables

Operators can now schedule:

  • Making tickets available for sale in advance.
  • Removing existing tickets from sale at a specific time.
  • Updating ticket prices seamlessly.

This capability eliminates the risk of tickets being incorrectly priced or available before the intended date and time to ensure that your riders always have the right options at the right time.

What you need to do

When creating new tickets, this feature allows you to configure whether they are made available for sale at a specific time/date in the future, immediately, or to be made unavailable for sale.

If you are editing an existing ticket to change the price or availability you need to configure whether the change is effective immediately or from a specific date & time in the future. Any upcoming scheduled changes for a ticket are visible in Passenger Cloud from the ticket section, where individual changes can also be cancelled.

Concerning anyone participating in the fare cap scheme in England, we advise that you should create new tickets at the new price configured to be on sale immediately or on a chosen date and time.

Why this matters for your operations

Coupled with the recent ability to schedule website content, this feature provides operators with even more ways to streamline workflows and plan changes efficiently. It eliminates out-of-hours work, reduces errors, and ensures a seamless experience for riders.

This feature will be available from Wednesday, 18th December. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your Customer Success Manager.
