Simplifying sales channel options for tickets

Illustration comparing the change in sales channels for mobile tickets in Passenger Cloud

To simplify the configuration of mobile tickets in Passenger Cloud, we are replacing the separate ‘mobile apps’ and ‘website’ sales channel options with a single ‘Mobile Apps and Web’ option. This change ensures that all tickets available for sale to customers can be purchased across both websites and apps.

Our analysis and consultations with operators have revealed that the majority of cases where a mobile ticket is configured with only one of the website or app sales channels result from a misunderstanding of these options. Selecting only one of these options means the ticket would not be available for purchase on both websites and apps.

This inconsistency can lead to a confusing customer experience, as customers may research a ticket on the web but then be unable to purchase it through the app. It also poses issues when sharing ticket links, as the availability may vary depending on whether the link opens in a browser or the app.

To ensure that mobile tickets are consistently available for sale across both apps and websites, we are simplifying the process with a single checkbox. Operators will now have two clear options when configuring sales channels for their tickets:

  • Mobile Apps and Web
  • Travel Portal

Any tickets previously configured with only one of the website or mobile app options will now be available for purchase across all customer platforms.

These changes will take effect on Wednesday, 25th October 2023. For more information about these changes please get in touch with your Customer Success Manager.
