Featuring events on websites

To help promote events more effectively and make it easier for operators to use we are changing how we determine which event to feature at the top of the Things to Do section on websites.

The first event in the list of events in Things to Do will now be featured at the top of the page. By default, this will be the event with the soonest start date. However, any events that have the “sticky at the top of lists” configuration applied will be shown at the beginning of the list. So in these cases, the featured event might not be the soonest event.

Currently, the most recently published event is featured by default, unless there is an event that has the sticky configuration applied in which case this will be featured. This makes it very difficult for content managers to effectively control which events they wish to promote by featuring at the beginning of the event list and at the top of the Things to Do section.

To set an event to be “sticky at the top of lists” expand the “Promotion options” panel on the right-hand side of the Passenger CMS when creating or editing an event and make sure the option is checked. Going forward, this option will be unchecked by default. This will make it much easier for operator content managers to promote specific events when desired.

This change will be released on Tuesday, 25th July 2023. If you have any questions about these changes please contact your Customer Success Manager.
