Featuring tickets outside of a category on websites and mobile

We are renaming the top-level ticket category from ‘Root level tickets’ to ‘Featured tickets’ in Passenger Cloud to better communicate the reasons why you may want to assign tickets to this category.

Operators with more than a small number of tickets are encouraged to organise them by category because this helps end users find their desired ticket faster than searching a long list. However, there are likely a small number of tickets that are much more popular than all the other tickets and in cases like this, we would recommend assigning this ticket to both the Featured category and the category it would naturally be organised into. This will help reduce the friction for end users so that they can find and buy the ticket they are most likely to want much faster.

For more information on ticket categories please see the following Helpdesk article ‘Featured Tickets (Formerly Root Level Tickets)‘.

For operators with web-to-mobile enabled we are also changing how tickets that are assigned to the Featured ticket category display on websites to be consistent with the behaviour in mobile apps. This will give a more consistent user experience across the two platforms and ensure we are matching your intent when you assign tickets to specific categories or the Featured ticket category.

On mobile apps, tickets assigned to the Featured category display above the list of categories that an operator has configured. This change will replicate that behaviour on websites so that any tickets assigned to the root level are displayed separately from and above any categories on the tickets page.

This change is due to be released on Wednesday 26th October 2022.
