Having access to user location data helps us to provide the best experience possible.
Though not required for the app to function, we recommend that users grant us permission to use their location data so that we can:
- Make search results for places and stops more relevant to their locality
- Provide an easy way to plan a journey from their current location
- Focus the map on their exact location giving instant context to nearby stops, vehicles and shared bike docks/bays, where applicable.
This update introduces two new dialogues that help communicate to users why granting this permission will improve their experience of the app.
The first of these is being added to the explore screen and directly points the user toward the location button. This dialogue will be shown if the user has denied or not yet granted a location permission.
The new Explore view dialogue, shown in dark mode.
The second dialogue is being added to the sidebar to serve as an unobtrusive reminder that granting location permissions will greatly improve their experience. This dialogue will only appear if the Explore view location dialogue has been dismissed
The new dialogue in the app sidebar, shown in dark mode.
