Waiting at a stop is an important part of a bus journey. Keeping a safe distance from other passengers before boarding the bus is just as important as during the journey itself
Over the coming days we’ll be extending our new crowdsourced data functionality to bus stops on all Passenger websites. Initially this will be shown on stop departure boards, so that users can see how busy it is before they leave to go to the stop.
Importantly in the current climate, each stop will display an indication of whether it is ‘Quiet’, ‘Moderate’ or ‘Busy’. Where no data is available, we will show “Unknown” to users, who are then encouraged to help others by completing a simple form.
Like our vehicle occupancy updates, we’re planning to roll out on the web first, as doing this enables us to release changes quickly. We’re already working on an initial release for apps and will follow up with an update on iPhone and Android soon.
