Passenger Cloud now supports previewing networks via an isochrone.
An isochrone is a graphical map that shows the estimated travel time between multiple points within an operator network. Passenger Cloud now supports generating isochrones from a specific point on a map with multiple time boundaries.
Isochrones provide an effective tool for network analysis, making it easier to spot errors in either TransXChange or location data. For example, if an area you expect to be covered is not highlighted in red, the website/app journey planner won’t be able to route to it.
This may also be useful for network planning, as an estimate of how well different areas of your network are served.
Isochrones are technically challenging, as the journey planner is effectively making thousands of journey plans out in every direction from a point. Let us know what you think of this new feature. It’s our first release, so your feedback will help us to improve it in the future.
