Ticket Sales Channels in Passenger Cloud

One of our biggest focuses over the last few months has been increasing the flexibility of digital ticket sales to your customers with the aim of helping you to maximise ticket revenue and grow passenger numbers.

Next week we are introducing the concept of Sales Channels to Passenger Cloud, making it easy for you to choose where customers can buy tickets; through your mobile app, website and our Business Portal.

You’ll be able to tailor the products you offer to a particular customer type. This is especially useful for your business customers, who may have specific requirements.

What’s new in Passenger Cloud

When you create a new ticket you can now choose which Sales Channels to sell the ticket through. There are three options: App users, Business customers and Website users.

Once you’ve created a new ticket the ticket details view shows which Sales Channels have been selected.

In the immortal words of Stan Lee, with great power comes great responsibility. Keeping ticket product offers as simple as possible will help you and your team to manage them now and in the future. The simpler they are the easier they will be to promote by your marketing and commercial teams.

It goes without saying that keeping ticket choice to a sensible minimum will make choosing a ticket much, much easier for a customer too. We all know that too much information is overwhelming for customers and getting this wrong can be the difference between someone using public transport and retreating to the convenience of a car.

What’s new in the Business Portal

There have been no changes to the user interface of the Business Portal.

However, you can create new tickets and only make them available for sale through the Business Portal. If, for example, you want to increase revenue by selling tickets to a specific university you can create a new fixed date ticket product and only make it available for sale to business customers. You could then choose to only sell this new product to a specific university via the business portal, but for your own sanity, we’d recommend less complexity if you can avoid it.

Do I need to change any settings for my existing ticket products?

No, all your existing tickets will be available, by default, via all three Sales Channels.

How do I get started selling tickets on my Passenger website?

This new functionality complements the new ‘Web-to-mobile eCommerce module’, which enables:

  • Web-to-mobile ticket sales, facilitating mobile app ticket sales via Passenger websites using the existing Payment Service Provider
  • Customers to purchase tickets and automatically renew them
  • New sales opportunities including the ability to buy tickets for dependants (who are app users) but do not wish to install an app first.

If you would like to find out more information about this new module and associated costs please contact our Customer Team. You know where we are!
